The Worship Service – Sundays and Holidays
Whether you have been a Christian of the Lutheran variety your whole life, come from a different denomination, or the Christian faith is entirely new to you, we welcome you among us. Our services focus on the grace of God given to people through hearing God’s Word and receiving the sacraments. Three basic things happen in the typical gathering:
- People gather together.
- People hear readings from the Bible. The pastor helps the gathered people reflect on the readings and what they say to us today. After the sermon we pray together.
- People share the Lord’s Supper, also called Holy Communion or the Eucharist.
Ushers will be distributing bulletins for following along with the service. If you ever get lost in the service order, you are welcome to ask congregants nearby for guidance. Good Shepherd typically follows the orders of service in the Evangelical Lutheran Worship and With One Voice hymnals. To know more about worship, check our denomination’s (ELCA) webpage on the subject.
Arriving for Worship
Check our calendar to see when our next service is. Good Shepherd is located at 1506 S Attica Rd. We have a concrete parking lot with some spots designated as handicapped parking. The building is all on one level, making it easy to move through.
During worship services greeters will be present to welcome you in and ushers are available to help you find a seat.
